The Show

Fatty Legs is a piece of choral theatre based on a book with the same name by Margaret Pokiak-Fenton and Christy Jordan-Fenton. It tells the true story of a young girl's experience in residential school. The show was first developed in 2011 when Xara began work with Anishinaabe dancer Sarain Fox and was commissioned by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Together, these women worked with Margaret to bring her childhood story to life on the stage in a way that would be accessible for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous audiences. The show has been performed more than 50 times since then and we have been blocked booked by Ontario Presents for this 19-show tour of Ontario in October 2018. The bookings are a combination of public and school performances within a nine hour driving radius in major venues across the province.
