deirdre kellerman, apprentice conductor
Deirdre Kellerman is a music student at Acadia University, studying
vocal performance with Christianne Rushton. She has experience as an
accompanist, teacher, director and performer.
In addition to singing soprano in Xara, Deirdre was selected for the
2010 tour of the National Youth Choir of Canada and has sung with the
Nova Scotia Youth Choir for four seasons. Deirdre's conducting
experience began in high school, where she founded and directed Volare,
an award winning student vocal ensemble. She is currently an apprentice
conductor with Camerata Xara, the Annapolis Valley Honour Choir, Kings
Chorale and the Acadia Chorus.
As a vocalist, Deirdre has sung in various productions, including Puccini's Suor Angelica and an upcoming role as the Mother in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors. Deirdre
is also an accomplished pianist, regularly accompanying for the Acadia
School of Music and freelancing throughout the province.
