Claire Leger, scenographer

Claire Leger PhotoClaire Leger is an emerging theatre and interdisciplinary arts practitioner based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and is the movement and scenography designer as well as a founding member of Camerata Xara Young Women's Choir. She holds an honours undergraduate degree in theatre studies from Dalhousie University and is a graduate of Neptune Theatre's Pre-Professional Training Program. Claire is currently completing an MFA in Interdisciplinary Performance at the University of British Columbia.

Claire focuses primarily on interdisciplinary performance creation, working with both choirs and theatre practitioners. Claire specializes in teaching choral singers how to sing with their whole body, incorporating exercises and concepts from physical theatre, dance, and yoga. She has taught creative movement at the Nova Scotia Choral Federation's "Sing Summer" camps as well as the "Sing with Rajaton" festival in Halifax.

Claire's choral singing experience is extensive and varied, including three years with the Nova Scotia Youth Choir as well as performances at the Atlantic Jazz Festival. In addition, she has worked as assistant director for DMV Theatre Collective and as a dramaturge for productions with Zuppa Theatre Company, DalTheatre, and King's Theatrical Society.
